Mikrofony pojemnościowe potrzebują dodatkowego zasilania +48V, które możemy uzyskać z miksera bądź interfejsu audio.
Podzielimy je na dwa typy:
-Pojemnościowy wielkomembranowy: ten typ mikrofonu posiada jaśniejsze i bardziej szczegółowe brzmienie od mikrofonu dynamicznego. Jest dużo bardziej czuły oraz posiada większy zakres częstotliwości. Pozwala to przekazać czysty i wierny dźwięk. Dzięki temu głównie jest wykorzystywany do nagrań wokali w studiach nagraniowych.
-Pojemnościowy małomembranowy – jest to mikrofon mniejszy gabarytowo z tym że jest jeszcze kilka istotnych różnic pomiędzy nim a jego większym bratem.
Mikrofon małomembranowy posiada większy zakres dynamiki , pasmo przenoszenia oraz jest bardziej wytrzymały pod względem maksymalnego ciśnienia akustycznego. Wielkomembranowy zaś ma mniejszą ilość szumów oraz jest bardziej czuły.
Dlatego małomembranowe pojemnościówki są częściej wykorzystywane przy nagrywaniu instrumentów.
Shure jest amerykańską firmą założoną w 1925 roku przez Sidney'a Shura. Marka zajmuje się produkcją sprzętu takiego jak np. mikrofony, słuchawki, miksery i procesory audio, systemy bezprzewodowe, wkładki gramofonowe, monitory estradowe. Z produktów korzystali tacy artyści jak Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Coldplay czy Taylor Swift.
