The YDP-S55 uses a piano sound sampled from Yamaha's flagship concert CFX concert model, which features bright highs and powerful, resonant bass, resulting in an extremely expressive sound.
The YDP-S55 has an equally detailed sound - from the lowest to the highest tones - full of transparency and rich in colorful harmonic content. Thanks to it, you will get extraordinary expressive power and nuances, both in everyday exercises and during the most emotional performances.
THE AUTHENTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ACOUSTIC PIANO WITH SEMI-PEDAL FUNCTION
The GH3 (Graded Hammer 3) keyboard with 88 keys reproduces the keyboard action of an acoustic piano, from the naturally heavy feel of the lower keys to the lighter feel of the upper octaves. The GH3 keyboard delivers the performance of an acoustic piano, allowing for quick note repetition and authentic expression control. In addition, the half-damper function realistically reproduces the action of a piano's damper, providing a wide range of expression.
HARMONIC RESONANCE LIKE PIANO-VIRTUAL RESONANCE MODELING LITE (VRM LITE)
One of the piano's charms is its sympathetic resonance, created by the vibrations of the entire instrument. The YDP-S55 accurately reproduces this rich resonance, thanks to a breakthrough technology called Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite). VRM Lite creates a rich, varied sound by simulating the complex sympathetic tones that arise when string vibrations are transferred to the soundboard and other strings, depending on the tempo and intensity of keyboard performance and pedaling.
RICH CHOICE OF BUILT-IN SONGS AND INTUITIVE OPERATION THANKS TO THE SMART PIANIST APP
Naturally, the YDP-S55 has an authentic concert grand piano sound, but also other instrumental sounds. There are 10 of them in total - including electric piano, organ, vibraphone and strings.
The YDP-S55 features 353 built-in songs, including 50 famous classical pieces, and 303 comprehensive exercises from well-known methodology by authors such as Beyer, Burgmüller, Czerny and Hanon. The instrument is also compatible with the free Yamaha Smart Pianist app - just download the app to your smartphone / tablet and connect to the instrument *.
With the Smart Pianist app, you can easily operate the various sound functions of the instrument and use it to display the scores of the built-in songs. The app also has a comprehensive Piano Room function for modifying the tonal quality and resonance settings of a piano sound.

It also has the Stereophonic Optimizer effect, which, even in headphones, allows you to enjoy the natural, spacious sound that can be experienced while sitting at an acoustic piano.
A SLIM, STYLISH CONSTRUCTION GIVES A DISCREET CHARACTER
The piano's casing has a shallow depth, so it can be placed in any room, and the elegant, stylish design will add elegance to your living space. What's more, closing the keyboard cover gives the instrument a flat, discreet character.

MAXIMUM VOLUME CONTROL
The new Volume Limiter function allows you to set a fixed maximum volume level to protect your hearing from loud noise from speakers and headphones.
RECORD AND PLAY YOUR PERFORMANCE
The YDP-S55 has powerful tools that let you record and verify your skills, or record a part with one hand and practice the other while listening to the first. What's more, you can record two parts separately - for example, your left and right hands - or record two sounds consecutively to create a complete song or arrangement.
PLAY THE DUET - THE SAME OCTAVA
The instrument becomes two keyboards in one, allowing two musicians to play the same piano sound side by side, within the same range. This is especially handy when learning with a partner, allowing you to learn and practice lots together!
