The Montage Series sets a new milestone in the control of musical dynamics, sound creation and seamless instrument performance.
It's a new era of Yamaha synthesizers, building on the legacy of two keyboard icons - DX and Motif. Montage is the perfect instrument that allows you to unleash the full creativity of a musician.
MONTAGE offers a comprehensive set of physical controls for intuitive music composition, including a touch screen, eight rotary knobs and faders with LED meters, and MONTAGE6 features a premium FSX semi-weighted synthesizer keyboard with aftertouch in a 61-key version.
Motion Control Synthesis Engine technology
The Motion Control Synthesis Engine technology combines two legendary sound modules: AWM2 (based on the subtractive synthesis method, using high-quality waveform samples) and FM-X (a modern module, based on the FM synthesis method). Both sound engines can be freely zoned and layered within eight elements in a single Performance setting on Montage instruments.
Motion Control is a fully programmable tool for creating deep and dynamic sounds.
Sophisticated control over dynamics
The MONTAGE series gives you a new way to express yourself with the Motion Control Synthesis Engine. The sound module enables comprehensive interaction with multiple channels simultaneously, allowing you to create your own unique sounds.
Super Knob
Create dynamic sounds from radical to subtle parameter changes with the Super Knob. Super Knob allows you to control many parameters at once, having a huge impact on the final sound.
For example: with the Super knob, you can change the position of the listener standing at the instrument - from a position to the right of the instrument to a position far from the instrument in the audience.
The Super Knob can be programmed as a second FC7 foot controller, allowing for additional tone manipulation while playing.
SEQ knobs
Motion Sequences are tempo-synchronized, making them fully programmable and can be assigned to any synthesizer parameter. This gives new, virtually unlimited sound programming possibilities.
Motion Sequences also have dedicated controls on the front panel for easy real-time control and parameter changes.
Envelope Follower
Envelope Follower converts audio signals to any synthesizer parameter.
Powerful sound generation
The MONTAGE series features a combination of two legendary sound modules. They have been upgraded and modernized in such a way as to generate and play even the most complex sound systems.
AWM2
AWM2 is Yamaha's proprietary technology for data compression and sound reproduction. AWM2 allows lossless data compression, guaranteeing unparalleled, realistic sounds of the highest audio quality.

The MONTAGE series has almost 10 times the waveform sample capacity compared to the MOTIF XF. This allows you to store more instrumental samples and create even more unique sounds.

FM-X
Great reproduction of a classic sound module from the 80's. The FM-X module produces sharp, bright and expressive EDM sounds with excellent dynamic range and high power. MONTAGE guarantees faithfully reproduced classic synthesizer sounds, based on 8 FM synthesis operators and 128 voices of polyphony. Thanks to this sound engine, the number of available sound options is much wider.
sound effects
The MONTAGE series offers excellent quality reverbs, perfectly reproduced VCM (Virtual Curcuit Modeling) effects. Thanks to an innovative signal processor, Montage synthesizers guarantee the most powerful sound effects available, and most importantly, with excellent sound quality. Use effects like Beat Repeat, Vinyl Break or Bit Crusher for a more modern EDM sound. Add compression with sidechain for a more modern "duck" effect. If you want to try more classic, vintage effects, check out e.g. Analog Delay, VCM Phaser, and Amp Simulators. Pianists who want to emphasize the realism of the piano sound will appreciate the Damper Resonance effect and HD reverbs.
Pure Analog Curcuit technology
The MONTAGE series has professional symmetrical connectors based on Pure Analog Curcuit (PAC) technology. PAC enhances signal quality prior to digital-to-analog conversion, preserving clean and clear harmonies and even better response to frequency changes. Thanks to the use of PAC technology, the reproduction of the internal signals in MONTAGE is much more powerful and clearer.
The USB connection also guarantees full 16-channel MIDI support.
- The SSS (Seamless Sound Switching) function allows you to freely change the Performance configurations without any loss of effects or envelope configuration. This is a great feature for live performances. With SSS, you can switch tracks live without having to pause between them. This feature is only available for Performance configurations with up to 8 parts.
- The A/D converter input converts external audio sources to the instrument's signal processor. Connect a microphone, guitar or any other sound source and process its signal using the integrated sound effects. Use Envelope Follower or Sidechain to create unique sounds.

LED meters (located right next to the faders) show the exact mix position of a given parameter.

- The LIVE SET feature allows you to organize your Performance setups however you like without having to copy, reorder or rename them. After selecting the Performance, register the selected item in the Live Set function. This is the perfect feature for live performances or for creating your own performance kit scheme.
- Direct Control Assignment assigns controllers to on-screen buttons. Select a parameter, press the Direct Control Assignment button and use the controller to program it to the selected button.
- Each MONTAGE synthesizer comes with Cubase AI - Steinberg's professional music production software. It is one of the leading DAWs for audio recording and editing.
