Product Description
Details

Waldorf is a legendary brand that produces the highest quality synthesizers with revolutionary technological solutions. The company was founded in 1989.

With the "M", Waldorf returns musically to its roots, restoring the classic generation of sounds from Microwave and the "modern" generation of "Microwave II" sounds in the form of a classic new generation wavetable hybrid synthesizer.

Waldorf M - wavetable synthesizer

With the "M", Waldorf musically goes back to its roots, bringing back the classic generation of sounds from Microwave and the "modern" generation of "Microwave II" sounds in the form of a classic next-generation wavetable hybrid synthesizer with analog VCF 24 dB / Oct filter - SSI 2144 - with resonance and an analog saturation function, a true stereo analog VCA with panning and much more! In addition, in a desktop-friendly form with a wide range of unique sounds. Extensive preset collection - 2048 total sound programs (divided into 16 banks, each with 128 sounds) - professionally programmed by world-class sound designers also includes all classic Microwave synthesizer sound sets such as MW1 Factory Sound Set, MW1 Soundpool 1-5 , fat-sounding Analogue and Bassco, as well as the PPG Wave 2.3, cleverly converted for the original Microwave. Moreover, it also includes freshly programmed sounds using countless new M functions - from true hard sync (when operating in Modern Microwave II / XT mode) to ARP (arpeggiator) and global LFO (slow waveform generator) synchronized via MIDI.

However, the beating musical heart of the M is the eight-voice, polyphonic, four-part, multitimbral WAVETABLE SYNTHESIZER - boldly decorated in red on a blue full-metal housing, demonstrating its outstanding Microwave heritage - these are two wavetable oscillators with independent wavetable modes: Classic Microwave 1 and Classic Microwave 1. more modern Modern Microwave II / XT. This means that wavetable oscillators behave differently in both of these modes (accessed by pressing the Mode button next to the high-resolution graphic display with four infinite range encoders for even more hands-on applications and more control). Consequently, there is no hard sync or ring modulation available in Classic Microwave I mode where 16 bit wavetables are reduced to 8 bit and a sampling rate without anti-aliasing of 240 kHz is offered, while the Modern Microwave II / XT mode offers frequency 40kHz sampling from wavetable with limited bandwidth, although both oscillators - OSC 1 and OSC 2 - offer the same parameters on the panel.

Two LFOs generate periodic waves with adjustable frequency and shape that can be used for modulation purposes and are also always at hand. However, unlike other Waldorf synthesizers, there is no modulation matrix in the "M". This is the result of a deliberate design decision to set the modulation functions "M" directly on the appropriate side of the display, paying tribute to the original Microwave from 1989.

Coming back here and now, the "M" takes performance to a whole new level, thanks to the advanced Arpeggiator with 16 preset patterns, chord mode and the ability to sync with the MIDI clock. Moreover, the four programmable ENVELOPES allow adventurous users to manipulate the sound parameters using modulation.

A musical connection to the outside world is important to any synthesizer, so the M offers six (located on the rear panel) stereo analog outputs - set as MAIN OUT (L / Mono and R) and AUX OUT (A, B, C and D), with the last of which can be used to route each of the four parts of the multi (multitimbral) to different outputs if desired; stereo headphone output (with associated volume knob in addition to the top Master Volume knob); 5-pin MIDI IN, OUT and THRU DIN connectors, supplemented by a USB 2.0 MIDI port (for connection to a computer to transmit and receive MIDI data); SD card slot (for M firmware upgrade, patch import / save, and M specific data import / save, such as user wavetable); and last but not least - a Kensington-compatible security lock slot
