What is a Buffer, and Why You Need It?

The High-Wire combats this with two independent buffers: a discrete Class-A input buffer (Mesa Stowaway™) and a high-speed, low-noise op-amp output buffer (Mesa Clearlink™). These ensure a consistent, clean tone with optimal signal integrity from pickups to amp.
Line Driver Boost and Silent Mute Function
The footswitch-operated Line Driver boosts the signal by +3dB — ideal for maintaining strong levels in large stage rigs or when driving long cable paths. A short tap activates the boost; a long press engages the MUTE function, allowing for silent tuning or guitar swaps without noise or hum.
Impedance Matching and System Compatibility
