SUGGESTED SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS: PASSIVE
HK Audio has been a leader in advancing active sound reinforcement—speakers with built-in power amplifiers and controllers—for over 20 years. Integrated systems like these are often easier to transport, set up, and operate. However, there are many applications, especially in rental and installed systems, where a centralized power amplifier rack combined with passive speakers is a more practical or cost-effective solution. Our application specialists have developed a concept of unified power amp racks featuring the latest generation of advanced Lab.gruppen power amplifiers and controllers, produced by market leaders. These power amp racks can be easily configured to accommodate various HK Audio speaker setups by simply selecting the appropriate filter sets. The full library of filter sets is already stored in the power amplifier rack's memory.

LINEAR 5 112 X/XA
Precisely tuned for rendering speech in the key frequency range from 100 Hz, the L5 112 X/XA is predestined for use as a mid/high-frequency unit for covering long distances. Such applications don't require a huge amount of low-end amplification, so HK Audio opted for a clever, space-saving enclosure that is angled, surprisingly compact, and equipped with a 60° x 40° CD horn for optimal directivity.
Capable of handling significant gain before feedback, this versatile enclosure can even serve as a powerful stage monitor.
LINEAR 5 112 F/FA and LINEAR 5 115 F/FA
These are two extremely versatile full-range models.
Just two L5 112 F/FA units mounted on speaker stands can provide true full-range coverage. L5 115 F/FA delivers a rich low-frequency bass response that will satisfy even the most demanding professional DJs. Both models feature an asymmetrical, rotatable horn with constant directivity (60°-90° x 55°), providing wide near-field coverage combined with long-range capability. Variable EQ settings allow you to tailor the frequency response: simply flip a switch to transform these full-range speakers into potent upper units for LINEAR subwoofers in small to medium rooms.
Features:
All models are equipped with two Class D amplifiers, one for the high-frequency driver and one for the low-frequency driver. The integrated controller provides three active protection circuits (short circuit, thermal, over/under voltage), peak limiter, and subsonic filter to maximize load handling and component longevity.
LINEAR 5 LTS/LTS A
Long Range. Ultra-Compact. Economical.
What does it take to cover the entire frequency spectrum and span over 30 meters? Only large line array systems have the power to achieve such performance. That is, until now.
The LINEAR 5 LTS/LTS A is already available, and it's the first speaker to provide true long-range performance in an ultra-compact format. Now you can hit the road with fewer speaker elements, saving precious space in your transport vehicle. Additionally, you can set up, arrange, and deploy setups much faster and easier.
The new LINEAR 5 LTS/LTS A isn't just the easiest way to deliver the best sound to audiences of up to 3000 people: it's also the most economical option.
Whether it's 30, 40, or 50 meters – the new LTS/LTS A mid/high-frequency unit throws the sound image as far as necessary, delivering silky upper frequencies even to the back rows. This is made possible by HK Audio's breakthrough Multicell Transformer technology. This ingenious invention drastically reduces high-frequency distortion, addressing the major issue of older horn and waveguide designs: generating distortion that limits the amount of usable acoustic pressure.
Equipped with this patented technology, the LTS/LTS A can deliver 138 dB SPL, an exceptionally high maximum in any standard.
This remarkable power, combined with a curved matrix formed by multiple cells, expands the range to cover the entire sound field with crystal-clear audio.
Ultra-Compact
The pioneering Multicell Transformer makes configuring compact speaker systems incredibly convenient. The latest generation of the LINEAR 5 series model is housed in an ultra-compact enclosure measuring 68 x 44 x 46 cm. Weighing only 24.9 kg, the LTS/LTS A can easily replace speakers twice its size and weight, saving space in your transport vehicle and significantly simplifying platform installation. The classic, simplified LTS/LTS A format is truly refreshing. Let's talk about user-friendliness: in the end, we have a straightforward design that can be stacked on the ground or grouped with exceptional ease and flexibility. All of this makes the LTS/LTS A effortlessly the most versatile tool in its class.
Economical
Sophisticated features, an exceptionally affordable price, compact size, and quick setup. With the LINEAR 5 LTS/LTS A, your savings are tripled: electrical power, vehicle space, and time. This affords much greater flexibility in planning your production budget and makes the LTS/LTS A the most economical solution in its application range.
Innovative Multicell Transformer:
Until now, there were two ways to construct long-range speaker systems. The tried-and-true approach is to use long-throw horns. They must have very large mouths and deep enclosures to accommodate the horn throat, making the enclosures huge. Furthermore, there's a lot of immovable property inside the horn. These surfaces cause resonances and reflections, which manifest as distortion, particularly at high frequencies. This distortion sets a very low limit on the maximum achievable acoustic pressure.
HK Audio engineers took on the challenge of reimagining the long-range speaker and developed a groundbreaking solution: the Multicell Transformer (MCT). This ingenious invention allows for the full utilization of the physical advantages of horns and waveguides, without any drawbacks. The openings of nine tubular channels form a linear array, with sound traveling through channels of varying length to achieve different delay times. This results in perfect vertical curvature and a highly precise projection pattern of +5°/-25°.
Thanks to these exceptional MCT properties, performance on par with comparable horns and waveguides is achieved in a fraction of their size. This revolutionary advancement in technology is the key to building remarkably small and streamlined speakers.
Here's a simplified summary of how it works: MCT divides the sound wave into nine small fronts. Each of these partial waves is directed by an expanding horn channel of varying length and mouth size. These horns lack immovable surfaces that could cause distortions, so the only distortions they generate are beyond the range of human hearing. This increases the usable acoustic pressure by up to 10 dB.
The second option for long-range applications, the line array, has been around for about 20 years. Waveguides shape the sound wave, allowing the line array to effectively reproduce even high frequencies. The drawback is that you have to pull, mount, and set up an array of speakers, even for small or medium events, which costs you space, time, and money.
