Są to efekty modulujące. Najprościej ujmując oznacza to ,iż sygnał bazowy zostaje pomieszany poprzez modulator z drugim sygnałem o innej charakterystyce. Między tymi sygnałami mogą występować pewne zależności np. zmiana amplitudy ,przesunięcie w czasie, częstotliwości, przesunięcie w fazie, jak również połączenie kilku tych opcji jednocześnie.
