Jesienią 1950 firma Fender przedstawiła model Broadcaster (później przemianowany na Telecaster), który szybko stał się hitem rynkowym. Tak jak w wypadku Stratocastera ten typ gitary produkuje także wiele innych firm. Układ elektryczny Tele to najczęściej dwa przetworniki single-coil kontrolowane trójpozycyjnym przełącznikiem i dwoma potencjometrami. Klonowy gryf przykręcony jest do korpusu z Olchy, Jesionu lub Topoli. Klasyczny Telecaster posiada stały mostek. Telecaster to klasyka rocka i country. Jest produkowany do dzisiaj. Używa lub używało ją wielu znanych gitarzystów jak Keith Richards, Ritchie Kotzen, Jeff Buckley.
