Przedwzmacniacz , inaczej preamp mikrofonowy ma za zadanie wzmocnić oraz poprawić sygnał mikrofonu. Wzmocnienie sygnału mikrofonu ma znaczenie przy dalszej obróbce dźwięku.
Ogólnie można podzielić preampy na dwa rodzaje.
1. Transparentne czyli takie które nie wpływają na sygnał, przekazują go jak najwierniej.
2. Wzmacniacze wpływające na sygnał- nadają im unikalny charakter, brzmienie.
Preampy znajdują się w każdym interfejsie/mikserze z tym że nie mogą się równać z dedykowanym preampem.
