A redesigned classic, equipped with the latest peripheral technology and corresponding to its low level of own noise. Like the legendary M 50, this tube microphone is perfect for orchestral recordings.
Since the fifties of the twentieth century, Neumann M 50 is referred to as the ideal microphone for the implementation of orchestral recordings and strings. Thanks to his phenomenal time response and unique directional characteristics, this classic microphone won the hearts of many fans, both in the director's and the sound stage.
The new M 150 Tube * tube microphone takes on the many properties of the original M 50, while being a very modern microphone. Thanks to the low level of own noise, titanium diaphragm and capsule, transformerless tube amplifier and sophisticated power design, the M 150 Tube tube microphone is not a re-edition - it is quite a new equipment.
Acoustic properties
The titanium diaphragm of the pressure capsule is 12 mm in diameter and is extremely thin. Although titanium is known for its unique and desirable properties for a long time, it is only recently possible to obtain a quality that allows the use of this metal in microphones of this type.
The microphone grill has the same shape as the original M 50, which is the result of many requests put into our hands by the best sound engineers in the industry. Due to the deposition of the pressure capsule with the membrane on a small spherical surface (40 mm), the directional characteristics of the M 150 Tube microphone are unique.
At the lowest frequencies, this system is an ordinary pressure transducer with a perfectly circular polar diagram. However, in the middle and high frequency band, the collecting angle becomes narrower. The M 150 Tube tube microphone is the perfect microphone for any stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 channel recording system, especially for DECCA Tree technology.
Electrical characteristics
The dynamic range of the M 150 Tube tube microphone is 119 dB, which allows for an unlimited reproduction of the full expression contained in the music.
With a low noise level of 15 dB-A, you can increase the volume without the risk of increasing the noise level in the final recording. The transformer-free output circuit of this microphone enables extremely accurate reproduction of weak signals and information in the lower frequency bands. In addition, you can use long cables without the risk of loss of signal quality.
